When I got a DM from Jera I did not expect her to ask if I could photograph her wedding. And in all honesty, I think I said “Yes!” before I even fully read the message. But this a girl who I had been following for a while after I first saw her speak on a panel about self-love. So, I was probably going to say yes to anything.
Why? Because her heart is SO big and so felt in everything she shares with the world and in turn, her followers.
She makes us laugh, she makes us cry happy tears and when things started falling apart around her wedding we cried some sad tears too. Everyone deserves a special wedding, it doesn’t have to be big or fancy but it should be uniquely yours. And Jera and Aaron were no exception, yes, even in a pandemic.
Jera and Aaron’s wedding took place in Central Park’s Conservatory Garden which I personally believe is Central Park’s hidden secret. It is so beautiful and every corner is more beautiful than the next.
Only a small amount of people were invited and with COVID-19 in the world, the guest list got shorter and shorter by the minute. As someone who eloped on a beach in Thailand, I’m a firm believer that 3 people is all you really need. But a select few showed up, some were called in from Australia and Vermont, others watched on instagram live, just a modest 6,000 people from all over the world and of course ABC news.
I don’t know how it felt getting married in that moment but despite everything, the world seemed to melt away and it seemed like only Jera and Aaron existed for a moment and I just so happened to be looking through this glass, my camera.
Is it corny? Yes, but is it true? Absolutely.
